Monday Memo
 | Joseph Daniszewski Scout Executive | |
Good day and welcome to our December 28th Monday Memo
I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day
 | I heard the bells on Christmas day, their old familiar carols play, And wild and sweet the words repeat of peace on earth, good will to men. I thought how, as the day had come, The belfries of all Christendom Had rolled along the unbroken song of peace on earth, good will to men. |
| And in despair I bowed my head, "There is no peace on earth," I said, "For hate is strong and mocks the song of peace on earth, good will to men." Then pealed the bells more loud and deep: "God is not dead, nor doth He sleep; The wrong shall fail, the right prevail with peace on earth, good will to men." Boy Scouting and the University of Evansville
Our organizations share common purposes
-
The Boy Scouts of America ? Vision Statement
The Boy Scouts of America will prepare every eligible youth in America to become a responsible participating citizen and leader who is guided by the Scout Oath and Law.
-
The University of Evansville ? Core Purpose
To provide life-transforming educational experiences that prepare students to engage the world as informed, ethical, and productive citizens.
We are both focused on instilling in young men and women the highest ideals and values so they are prepared citizens who are able to lead and enrich the world. Lofty goals, but obviously shared by the youth we serve.
This fall, the University of Evansville welcomed 50 freshmen, out of a class of 700, who had attained the highest rank in their Scouting experience. With your help, we want to grow this number for next fall.
The University of Evansville Scouting Scholarship provides a minimum $55,000 award over four years to students who have earned their Boy Scouts of America Eagle Scout, Girl Scouts of the USA Gold Award, Sea Scouting Quartermaster Award, or Venturing Silver Award and have a high school grade point average of at least 3.5 and ACT score of 23 or higher or SAT score of 1530 or higher.
Additionally, once students enroll at UE, they can become members of Venture Crew 365. Within the past year, this active Crew has provided community service, camped, hiked, caved, and tackled COPE. Members have also been invited by the local Boy Scout Council to provide service to packs and troops.
The University of Evansville is a highly recognized and respected institution. Consistently ranked in U.S. News & World Report, UE has earned the highest accreditations in such sought after programs as engineering, business, education, nursing, and exercise science. Both of our organizations have a lot to offer - can we partner? I can be reached by e-mail: tb53@evansville.edu or phone at 812-488-2477.
Sincerely,
Dr. Thomas Bear
