CLICK HERE to read the full article Scout Shop Black Friday The Council Accident and Sickness Insurance Program Fees for the 2015 Year are Now Due The cost to the unit is JUST $3 per participant, if paid by December 1st, 2014, $4 per member after December 1st, 2014, for both youth members and adult leaders. The total cost is based on the number of registered youth and adults at the time of the last re-charter. Your unit may opt to obtain coverage from another source but must provide proof to the council office. If you will be obtaining your own coverage, proof of coverage is due to the council office by December 1st, 2014. Coverage information is required to be listed to obtain tour permits and attend summer camp. These are two examples of insurance coverage: - Liability insurance coverage is automatically provided by the council to all volunteer Scouting leaders and chartered organizations and covers negligence liability claims or lawsuits arising out of an official Scouting activity. Coverage is more than $5 million for bodily injury and property damage. Your unit’s $40.00 re-chartering fee plus an additional council payment based on its total youth membership and claims experience helps to pay for this coverage, which is coordinated and administered as a service to councils by the BSA National Office.
- Accident and Sickness insurance coverage provides financial assistance for accidents, injuries and illnesses for members while participating in official Scouting activities, or traveling to and from these activities. New members added during the charter year are automatically covered. Non-Scouts who are attending official Scouting activities for the purpose of being encouraged to join are also covered. This coverage is not automatic and must be obtained by your unit annually.
When submitting your insurance payment, please send a separate check from your re-charter check attention Veronica Whitman to PO Box 8910, Redlands CA 92375. If you have any questions, please contact Veronica Whitman Ext 116 at the Jack Dembo Scout Center, 909-793-2463, or e-mail vwhitman@bsamail.org Thank you for your interest in providing a safe and healthy Scouting experience for your members. Ingalls Veterans Memorial in Norco. The 15 x 25 foot flag was donated by Troop 33 to the city of Norco and was paraded through Norco at the 2 previous Labor Day parades. It is now flying at the memorial atop a 70 foot flagpole. Here is a YouTube link to a video of the entire color guard ceremony: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=mpIlWccS1Rc Yours in scouting, Geoff Kahan, Scoutmaster, Troop 33 Norco Recognizing World War II Veterans of D-Day | The Normandy regional government has created a medal for any living veteran of the Battle of Normandy (D-Day +100) or who participated in the reconstruction of Normandy after the war. We have been asked to assist in distributing the medals to those Veterans residing in the United States. If you have Veterans in your council whom you would like to recognize, I only need to know their name, and unit they were with (rank at the time would be good but not necessary). I will mail the medal and ribbon to your council for presentation. (picture attached). From working with these heroes nothing means more to them to have youth thank them and be aware of what they did. Having a medal presented by a scout with their thanks means a lot. I hope it will help you to continue to build relationships with organizations that also serve Veterans in your council. | Honor is being in the presence of a man and his family that has given extraordinary service, commitment and sacrifice to not only a grateful nation but in large to the betterment of our world community. Mr. Daniel Gonzales is that man. Along with our Scout Executive Joseph Daniszewski, I had the true privilege of honoring and presenting Mr. Gonzales with a token of appreciation and gratitude on behalf of the California Inland Empire Council. Mr. Gonzales is one of our many veterans in the Inland Empire. He distinguished himself during World War II in the European theater June of 1944. His eyes well up as he recounts the landing in crimson waters on the beaches of Normandy near Saint Lô, France. He lost his closest friend in the forest near Bastogne, Belgium. At war’s end he came home and raised a family and never forgot those he served with or why they sacrificed so much. So few have done so much for so many. I thank you and all of our veterans, Scott "Mac" McLeod, Council President CIEC Archery Shoot 2014 Today was a warm, sunny, and slightly breezy day for Cub Archery. We had two full sessions of Wolves and Bears. Several Bullseye patches were handed out during the morning session, and all the boys had a lot of fun! We are looking forward to the Shoot-off on Saturday, December 6th. The Wolves and Bears will register at 8:30am, and the Webelos will register at 10:30am. The 2014 season is almost at an end. We would like to thank all the boys for participating and being great scouts. We would also like to thank all the adults that brought the boys. We wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving! Eight scouts, accompanied by their scoutmasters and dads, camped out Friday night about 21/2 miles from the crash site. It was a chilly over-nighter, as the temperatures dipped into the 40s and snowfall that dusted the mountain Thursday night was still on the ground. Read More.....
