Welcome to our March 31st, 2014 Monday Memo

Eagle Recognition Dinner

Kudos to the NESA Committee lead by Matt Brandt for another great Eagle Recognition Dinner last Friday, March 14th at the March Air Field Museum. 73 2013 Eagle Scouts enjoyed the festivities. Eagle Scout Jonathan Stanley of Troop 11 of the Holy Name of Jesus Church of Redlands was awarded the CIEC Adams National Eagle Scout Service Project of the Year Award.

Ken Hedrick, Brig General Jeffrey K. Barnson, John Vineyard and Louis G. Monville III were awarded the NESA Outstanding Eagle Scout Award.

Palm Desert Historical Society

Troop 76, Palm Desert, led by Scoutmaster Rob Pitchford and Assistant Scoutmaster, Bob Keeran, assisted the Palm Desert Historical Society with their annual picnic on March 23rd, at the Palm Desert Civic Park. Over 100 Historical Society Members attended the annual picnic where the Troop helped with set-up, cooking, serving of food, and clean-up at the Society's annual picnic. While there, they met Gary Olson, a founding member of Troop 76 from 1950! The Troop first saw a need back in November and reached out to the Society to help with the lifting and moving of items at their annual Rummage Sale. Their help was met with great enthusiasm! The elder members of the Historical Society have truly appreciated the assistance and the boys have been enjoying an up close and personal look at the history of Palm Desert from some of its most prominent members.

Baldy Mesa Pack 464

Hello Mr. Daniszewski,

Our pack went to Camp Emerson March 14th - 16th.  I cannot begin to tell you how much fun our boys and parents had.

Troop 309 and the staff did a wonderful job!  I wanted to let everyone know that we appreciate their hard work.

I would like to buy a Thank you card and have each of the boys who attended camp sign it and send to troop 309. Here is a picture of our pack leader and some of our campers.

Thank you, Tammy Falcone

Pack 257’s disABILITY Awareness Night

Angela Madsen, a paraplegic who is a 2012 Paralympic medal winner for Shot Put and a 6x Guinness World Record Holder for being the first woman to row across the Atlantic and Indian Oceans, came to speak at Apple Valley Cub Scout Pack 257’s disABILITY Awareness night on March 25th.  Pack 257 Tiger Den 6 met her at The Abilities Expo in Los Angeles and were so honored to have this amazing woman offer to come all the way out to Apple Valley to speak to the Cub Scouts about her journey. This event aimed to increase the scout’s awareness of physical, emotional, and intellectual challenges people encounter on a day to day basis. The Cub Scouts also learned the scout motto and promise in sign language, found  their names in braille  and learned ways they can help.

Positive Quote & Prayer
--------------------------------------

"It takes less time to do a thing right, than it does to explain why you did it wrong."

    ~  Henry Wadsworth Longfellow 1807-1882

My Lord, I thank you for the wisdom and love that is spoken through the lives of strong men and women. Grant that I may be willing to learn of them, and gladly serve where I am needed, remembering that thou art Lord of all.

Amen.
