Stand Up to Bullying!
Everybody’s problem—right now
CHANCES ARE THAT YOU WERE BULLIED. It might have happened decades ago. It could have happened in school, on the playground, in the neighborhood, at the movies or on the ball field. It might have happened just once. Or it might have happened 20, 30, 40 times over the course of a couple of years. But one thing is certain—you can still remember it clearly, the bullying and the bullies. You want to do whatever you can so that it doesn’t happen to a loved one. Or to any child. Because the problem is right now.
Right now: There are approximately 2.1 million bullies in American schools bullying 2.7 million victims. CLICK HERE to Read More

Camping Notes
From the Camp Director:
Scout families: I reminded my Scouts in our unit today to start saving money for camp. If a Scout saves two dollars a day for the next 6 months he will have more than enough money to pay for camp. One way to earn the money would be to recycle aluminum cans. It would take 6500 cans for a Scout to earn his way to camp. This works out to 36 cans a day. It is quite a project, but it is doable, especially if the Scout gets the community involved in the project. Camp is a great place to spend some time in the summer. It may be the highlight of their year. And it will create memories that last a lifetime. So plan ahead and be prepared. We'll see you on the mountain!
From the Camp Program Director:
Prithy a quick word...King Wiley has sent messengers abounding to all corners of the map for he hath heard nary a word from brave Cub Scouts seeking to finish the quest and earn fame and jewels aplenty! King Wiley is getting weary for the long winter is soon coming, and needs all the help he can get to vanquish the towering dragons and bears of the Polar Lands. If you think you are brave, then take up arms and sign up for Camp Wiley today. Three cheers, hip hip huzzah! Hip hip huzzah! Hip hip huzzah! Don't forget Pack Leaders; recognition from King Wiley himself awaits if your Pack comes to Polar Cub Camp and Camp Wiley. Don't forget to make your own shield with family crest, and there will be prizes for the best decorated campsite!
From the Camping Specialist:
Time is running out! The camp is filling, but there are plenty of choice spots left for both Camp's Wiley and Emerson up at Boseker Scout Reservation! This is your last Monday Memo reminder that we are still offering 2015 rates until December 31st...Camp Wiley is $190 for Cub Scouts and $120 for leaders/parents, and Camp Emerson is $325 for Boy Scouts and $180 for leaders with the first two leaders free for five Scouts attending! Prices must increase in 2016 to keep up with increased costs to the camp so take advantage of this offer now...before it's too late!

On November 21, 2015, Troop 76, chartered with Hope Lutheran Church in Palm Desert, celebrated its first ever "second generation" Eagle Scout from the same Troop.?
Rob Pitchford, was able to bestow on his son the honor of Eagle Rank in front of family and friends, as well as past Troop 76 members. 2016 will mark the Troop's 65th Chartered Year. We took advantage of the gathering to take a picture of all past and present Troop 76 members, as well. (Photo credit: Bob Keeran)

Getting Out in the Outdoors the BALOO Way!
With more outing in Cub Scouting, BALOO (Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation) is the one place leaders will learn how to provide a terrific outdoor program for their boys. And any training in the outdoors has to be done in the outdoors.
The Jurupa Mountains Discovery Center hosted the BALOO training conducted by Mount Rubidoux District trainers Nov. 7. The all-day training saw 12 Scouters from around the council, and some from Los Angeles, learn how to use a camp kitchen, set up tents and bake desserts in the Dutch oven. They also participated in ceremonies, skits, games, songs and planning sessions. “We wanted to get the Scouters up and moving. We wanted them to see what the boys see, when camp is planned and executed the BALOO way,” said Michael McBride, who lead the training. “My goal was to show them that they need to have fun out there, to have some camp spirit!” said Debb Walker, co-trainer.
The course also went green in the outdoors. McBride put reference material online, cutting the amount of copies of 70 per person to just six per person.

Memorial service pays tribute to Boy Scout leader, Highland resident
COLTON >> To get an idea of the number of lives Michael Bentley touched, all one had to do was look around the chapel at Montecito Memorial Park & Mortuary on Saturday.
During a standing room-only memorial service, Bentley’s family and throngs of friends gathered to pay their final respects to a man who dedicated his life to the Boy Scouts of America.
Many of Bentley’s colleagues from the Boy Scouts wore their green uniforms, red handkerchiefs wrapped around their necks.
“We come together in grief, acknowledging our human loss,” said the Rev. Cynthia J. Huskey, who led the service and described Bentley as “a good man with a life that was well lived.” Read More......
