It is important that you are a TRAINED LEADER

We appreciate ALL of our volunteers in the California Inland Empire Council!  Without you, we could not deliver the excellent program to the 15,000 + youth in our council.  Want to make it better for our youth?  Get trained and make sure your records show that you are trained!  This is how you can do both:

Already completed your training?  Fill out the “ON MY HONOR” Training Report

Need to complete your training?  If a Cub Scout Leader, go online to www.my.scouting.org (online Boy Scout and Venturing Training is coming soon!)

For everyone else, attend a leader specific training held throughout the council. Go to our council website for upcoming training dates. MORE dates will be announced soon!

Show how much you care about your Scouts and be a trained leader.  They all deserve a TRAINED LEADER!!

Is Your Unit 100% TRAINED?

Click Here and see what percentage trained your unit is! The percentage of trained leaders is for ALL leaders fully trained in their position (Committee Member, Scoutmaster, Den Leader, etc).  Go to my.scouting.org if you are a leader in your unit and you want to know what training your registered adult volunteers have completed. Make it a goal NOW and in 2016 to get your unit 100% trained.

Happy New Year from your Camp Staff!

From the Camp Director:  The holiday season is a time of family traditions, and making lasting memories.  Summer Camp is also a place of traditions and creating memories. Join your scouting family at camp this summer and have the best time of your life!  See you on the mountain!
Yours In Scouting, Camp Director Jeff

From the Camp Program Director:  We all know that while the Boy Scouts are busy having fun and seeking adventure with their friends this summer at camp, that there's nothing for the adults to do except nap in the campsite. Not at Emerson! We have so many trainings that we can't contain them to just a couple hours. Our Adult Training Extraordinaire offers all the trainings you need to stay awake, as well as ensuring that you have your own fun. The purpose of camp isn't to follow your Scouts around making sure they get to their merit badge sessions right? So sign up for training, expand your toolbox of leadership skills, and where else can you knock out all the training you need as a new leader for such a great deal, and in such a great setting?

From the Camping Specialist:  We've had a terrific response to our early registration offer of 2015 rates to sign up for the 2016 Camp's Wiley and Emerson, but there are still many choice camp sites open for interested units.  Sign up now and you can get the 2016 Early Bird Prices for this summer's camps...don't wait, sites are going fast and prices will increase after mid-April...see you at camp!

Local Boy Earns Eagle Scout Rank

Mason EwingMason Ewing, a member of Boy Scout Troop 53, has earned and will be awarded his Eagle Scout on Dec. 26. Mason is a 15-year-old resident of Phelan, and attends Serrano High School as a sophomore.

Mason started in Troop 53 as a cub scout at the age of 8 and plans to continue his scouting adventures as he is striving to earn an Eagle Palm. Mason's Eagle project was in conjunction with the California Water Fowl Association, where they were conducting a study regarding the lack of hatchlings of wood ducks and therefore the declining population of wood ducks. This study was performed at the Prado Dam, one of two remaining wood duck habits in Southern California, the need for nesting boxes is where Mason was able to serve.

Mason earned the money for these boxes by selling sponsored boxes and then with his troop, family and friends built, delivered and mounted these nesting boxes. Read More.....

“The object of the patrol method is not so much saving the Scoutmaster trouble as to give responsibility to the boy.”

A New Year's Prayer

Lord, You make all things new
You bring hope alive in our hearts and cause our Spirits to be born again.
Thank you for this New Year for all the potential it holds.
Come and kindle in us almighty flame so that in our time, many will see the wonders of God and live forever to praise Your glorious name.

Amen.
