Campership Thank You Letters

Dear CIEC Campership Committee,

Thank you for the campership, my experience at NYLT was not only enjoyable but helpful. I had a fun experience, I liked the way the staff incorporated games into our presentations. I learned many leadership skills that I will use in my everyday life as well as in Scouting. I plan to attend Firefox next year where I will be learning more useful skills and putting them into action. I will be using these techniques my entire life.

Sincerly, Chris E.

Dear Mr. Daniszewski,

My name is Zechariah L. from Troop 18. I wanted to thank you for your help in gettin our campership. With your help, I learned on how a leader works and the things a leader does everyday. I learned that a leader has vision, goals, and planning in creating a positive future. A leader uses SMART Goals to accomplish their vision. A leader helps teach other Scouts learn, using teaching EDGE and leading EDGE. A leader uses EAR to help resolve a problem that has occurred. Not only have I learned leadership, I also had a great time making new friends and enjoying the week at Camp Emerson. I am looking forward and can't wait to come back next year into Foxfire.

Yours in Scouting, Zechariah L. Troop 18

Dear Mr. Daniszewski,

My name is Jonathan L. I wanted to thank you for the campership for NYLT. I really enjoyed every minute that I was there. Our them for this year was AVATAR I was part of the earth Troop and our patrol was called the "Blind Bandit". I made a lot of friends and the staff was great. I learned on how to be a leader. You know that I made a round latching and frapped it. My patrol was amazed that I did it. I know that if you put your mind to something you want to do you can do it. Did you know that there is a law in Scouts that is unspoken? It is called a Scout is Victorious. I can't wait to bring what I learned to Troop 18 and show my leadership. Thank you again for the support that you gave me. Without that campership I would not have been able to learn the skills that I know now.

Yours in Scouting, Jonathan L.

Dear Mr. Daniszewski,

My name is Lynda L. I am the parent of Jonathan and Zechariah. I wanted to say thank you for the campership money that you gave to my boys. Both me and my husband our out of work right now so it was really hard to save up for the boys NYLT. I feel very blessed for the support that you gave to both my sons, they really did come back with leadership skills. There was a great change in both of them. They would not stop talking about what a great time they had and that staff was amazing. Everything that they were telling me was very much like when I went to Wood Badge. Both my sons are now talking about wanting to join Foxfire next year. Thank you again for everything.

Yours in Scouting, Lynda L.

Fall Wood Badge

Scouters and Wood Badge Participants,

Preparations are being made to conduct the fall Wood Badge course, W4-45-16-2 over August 26 – 28, 2016 and September 9 – 11, 2016 at CIEC Camp Emerson in Idyllwild. The Staff is busy getting themselves and the materials needed ready for the course.

Wood Badge Buddies have been assigned to each participant. Their job is to answer questions, address concerns, gather needed information and generally make getting ready for the course easier for participants.  With the possible exception of those Scouters who have signed up within the last couple of days, by now all participants should have had direct contact from their Wood Badge Buddy. If you have not, please feel free to write me at troop304sm@aol.com; or call at (909) 720-7359.

If you have not signed up for Wood Badge yet, please do so right away. The course is filling rapidly. Get your registration into the council office right away. Camperships are available on a first come, first served basis. The LDS church offers camperships for members of their church. Scout units and employers often make camperships available as they recognize the value of having a leader trained at Wood Badge.

If you are interested in living the best traditions of Scouting and Wood Badge, learning the leadership skills needed to develop a high-performance team, and ready to develop your vision and legacy for your Scouting career – then apply today!

The application form can be found by CLICKING HERE. We look forward to seeing you at Gilwell Field this fall.

Scouts Collect American Flags Left at Orlando Memorial to be Properly Retired

Boy Scouts gathered hundreds of soiled American flags from the lawn outside the Dr. Phillips Center in Orlando, Fla., concluding a memorial service that paid tribute to the 49 victims of the Pulse nightclub shooting.

Scouts collected mini-flagpoles lodged in the dirt, surrounded by wet gifts and melted candles left to honor the victims.

The Scouts’ flag collection project was completed in collaboration with officials from the Orange County Regional History Center and the American Legion.

According to Chris Crowley, director of field service for the Central Florida Council, the flags were deemed unserviceable for various reasons, including touching the ground, and will be respectfully retired through the American Legion.

Scout Honors Police, K9 Officers with Eagle Project

Scout Honors Police, K9 Officers with Eagle ProjectA Scout in New Braunfels, Texas, is looking to show his appreciation for local police and K9 officers with his Eagle Scout project.

Scout Tommy D., of the Boy Scouts of America Alamo Area Council hopes to someday become a member of law enforcement and experience that brotherhood, but first, he’s working on earning Eagle Scout as part of his commitment to Scouting.

“I like the Boy Scouts because it’s kind of like a brotherhood,” he said.

To combine his interest in Scouting and law enforcement, Tommy decided to focus on an oft-overlooked part of the law enforcement community – the K9 officers. His Eagle Scout project will be a memorial to the K9 officers that have retired or passed away.

“I really wanted to do something for the police,” Tommy said. Read More.....

Positive Quote & Prayer
--------------------------------

"The three great essentials to achieving anything worthwhile are; first, hard work, second, stick-to-it-iveness, and third, common sense."

    ~  Thomas A. Edison (1847 - 1931)

A SCOUT'S PRAYER

Dear Heavenly Father,
Help to keep my honor bright
And teach me that integrity of character
Is my most priceless possession.

Grant that I may do my best today,
And strive to do even better tomorrow.
Teach me that duty is a friend and not an enemy,
And help me face even the most disagreeable task cheerfully.

Give me the faith to understand my purpose and life,
Open my mind to the truth and fill my heart with love.
I am thankful for all the blessings you have bestowed upon my country.
Help me to do my duty to my country and
To know that a good nation must be made from good men.

Help me to remember my obligation to obey the Scout Law,
And give me understanding, so that it is more than mere words.
May I never tire of the joy of helping other people or
Look the Other way when someone is in need.

You have given me the gift of a body,
Make me wise enough to keep it healthy,
That I might serve better.

You are the source of all wisdom,
Help me to have an alert mind,
Teach me to think,
And help me to learn discipline.

In all that I do and in every challenge I face,
Help me to know the difference between right and wrong,
And lead me in obedience on a straight path to a worthy goal.
