A Scout is Helpful...

Many have asked how they can help Scouters and Scouting that has suffered due to the devastation from the recent spate of Hurricanes ravaging Texas, Florida, and of course Puerto Rico and the American Virgin Islands.

The National Eagle Scout Association has send this email providing a link to donate to the BSA Foundation.  Donations are directed to be used to help rebuild the scouting program in the affected areas.  By helping to bring Scouting back online in those areas, a sense of normalcy to our youth can help in the rebuilding efforts. This is only one way the BSA is helping, but it’s important.  Please spread this information to your contacts and keep the families in these communities in your thoughts and prayers.

Matt Flanagan
Council Commissioner
California Inland Empire Council, BSA

The recent devastation across the country and territories is a call to all Scouts and Scouting alumni to Be Prepared.

Most recently, the island of Puerto Rico has been significantly compromised. Volunteers and staff have no power and communication is severely limited. Your gift to the Boy Scouts of America's Emergency Assistance Fund can provide aid to sustain Scouting in Puerto Rico and other communities in Florida, Texas and beyond. By restoring Scouting in affected areas, you are providing a sense of normalcy, critical to the rebuilding and healing process in these communities.

You can make a difference! Make your contribution today.

Popcorn Celebrities

A  Lakers player came to the business of one of our Pack 2017 members and did an autograph signing for everyone who bought popcorn at the event.  I love the “out of the box” thinking that my team has. He is the third sports figure to do so.  In his case, it ended up in an online article at Clutchpoints.com. Read more here....

Cedar Badge ILST Trains 58 Scouts in Leadership

Scout spirit was high at the original Cedar Badge -  Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops that was held Sept. 29-30 in Riverside and hosted by Mt. Rubidoux District. A staff of 17 adult and youth leaders lead by Cedar Badge Scoutmaster Allison George trained 58 boys in a variety of skills from  BSA's ILST course  in addition to covering much of the Patrol Leader Handbook. Scouts learned how to plan campouts, campfires, interfaith services and how to lead songs. They also learned much about  servant leadership. The Scouts  and staff came from across the Inland Empire with a few youths from out of council. The course once again was held at the beautiful park maintained by the LDS church on Blaine Street.  "From all reports, Scouts had a wonderful time participating in this training," Allison said.

Thanks,
Allison G. George

Thoughts from the Scout Executive:

Positive Quote and Prayer
--------------------------------

"A thing that many young fellows don't seem to realism at first is that success depends on oneself and not on a kindly fate, nor on the interest of powerful friends."

~Robert Baden Powell

In the rising of the sun and in its going down,
we remember them.
When we are weary and in need of strength,
we remember them.
When we are lost and sick at heart,
we remember them.
When we have joys we yearn to share,
we remember them.
So long as they live, they too shall live,
for they are now a part of us, as
we remember them.
In the blowing of the wind and in the chill of winter,
we remember them.
In the opening of buds and in the rebirth of spring,
we remember them.
In the rustling of the sky and in the warmth of summer,
we remember them.
In the blueness of the sky and in the beauty of autumn,
we remember them.
In the beginning of the year and when it ends,
we remember them.
