Join Us This Weekend!

Hello fellow Scouters.

The Annual Memorial Day camp service weekend is coming. If you can distribute this as widely as possible it would be a great help. Last year we got a lot of work done in preparation for the Summer camping season. Literally thousands of service hours were performed on behalf of the scouts. We’d like to better that effort this year. Every man hour provided is a reduction in our operating expenses, which is a good thing. Let’s help show pride in ownership of our camp. Meals will be provided by the Cahuilla Lodge, Order of the Arrow for this weekend (Saturday Lunch and Dinner only). The OA usually puts on a pretty good feed.

Medal of Merit Honorees

The California Inland Empire Council Boy Scouts of America salutes Thomas, Jenifer, Miles, Riley, Tyler, and Mathew for their courageous efforts.

  • While on a service project for Zion National Park, 7 members of Crew 107 became involved in rescue operations. One group came to be in distress during the hike because they were unprepared for the extreme weather conditions at 106 degree temperatures as well as the difficulty of the hike. Crew 107 helped numerous people suffering extreme heat stroke symptoms and other minor injuries. They stabilized hikers and helped transport many to medical attention. All of those crew members used their knowledge of First Aid and CPR training.
  • Vanesse (Thomas' mother) was standing in front of a vehicle that was in the process of parking, the vehicle did not stop in time and instead jumped the curb pinning Vanesse against a faucet in a wall. This caused significant soft tissue, arterial and nerve damage. Thomas immdiately assessed the situation, checked the patients vitals and used his shirt to create a tourniquet just above and around the wound to control bleeding. He elevated the leg to further reduce bleeding and contacted emergency services. He continued to monitor the patient until more qualified medical assistance arrived. Throughout the traumatic experience Thomas maintained a professional composure and kept the patient calm. There is no doubt that the actions taken by Thomas saved the patients (his mothers) life.

Thoughts from the Scout Executive:

Positive Prayer & Quote
--------------------------------

We Remember

We remember the many brave men and women
who have given their lives
through the history of our country
to protect us from danger and harm.
We remember all those who sustained injury
in mind and/or body in the course of their service.
We salute all those who served in the military.
