The large banner was put up in front the shop, so people coming in would know that it was a party happening. We had involved our community in the following way: The Inland Empire Daily Bulletine sent a reporter to cover all the festivities and the article will be printed in the Community section of the paper. Ontario Police Dept sent officer CC with Charlie The Talking Police Car with a message on Danger and Safety. Ontario Fire Dept put up our Banner and had fun with the kids doing the pi?ata from the back of their fire truck. Rancho Cucamonga Quakes (Baseball Single A Team for LA Angels of Anaheim) sent their mascot Tremor and gave out goodies. Ontario Reigns Hockey Team sent their mascot Blaze and gave out treats. The Angeles National Forest Rangers gave out souvenirs with fire safety messages and brought out their mascot Smokey Bear. Lazer Island from Upland came and brought their spinning prize wheel and gave out free rounds of miniature golf and rock climbing. We had Pin The Tail On Pedro and a crayon coloring table (the pictures are now proudly displayed on our shop windows). All the scouts and non-scouts attending got party favors (Reminder Band, Balloon and a pencil for Pining the tail on Pedro) and hand stamped for each game they participated in. Happy Birthday was sung by all then it was CAKE! Awesome cake. 3 Peaks District Dinner Here is a "photo story" of the 3 Peaks District Dinner held January 29th, 2010 at the Hemet Stake Center on Kirby. Attendance was somewhere between 45 and 50 Scouters. To celebrate the 100th Annaversary of Scouting which orginated in England, the dinner menu was "Shepards Pie". (a couple different versions). The food was GOOD, and hot as well. Introductions of our new Scout Executive, Joe Daniszewski and his wife Leah were made, as well as Tina Roy, our new District Executive. (see photos) What followed were not only awards, but a lot of fun and surprises too. Join us now for a photo tour of the 3 Peaks District Dinner and don't forget, this is a YEARLY event we hold usually in January of the New Year. Come and join us. February 25th, 2010 | The Boy Scouts of America is proud to announce that we will be a featured category on the February 25 episode of Jeopardy!. This is a tremendous opportunity to extend our brand footprint to a nationally televised audience during our 100-year celebration. Jeopardy! has been the top-rated television game show for several years. Having the opportunity to align our brand and movement with such a highly visible platform is strategically sound and organizationally exciting. Be sure to stay tuned for the entire show, including the commercial breaks, because the BSA will be spotlighted during the first or second commercial break. Brand Management would like to thank Scout Executive Jim Martin and the staff at the Golden Empire Council for supporting this effort. (Feb 9) ? When the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) was officially incorporated on February 8, 1910, Americans were driving Stanley steam automobiles, earning an average of $750 a year, and paying little more than 30 cents for a gallon of milk. The national debt was a mere billion dollars. While all of these things seem out of place today, the BSA remains a vital organization with a mission and purpose that is more relevant today than ever before. Throughout 2010, the Boy Scouts of America will celebrate its centennial anniversary milestone with a rallying call that will be heard across the nation as Scouts gather in their communities to pay tribute to the rich history and tradition of Scouting. Having served more than 100 million members since its founding, the BSA has made a lasting and positive imprint on the fabric of the nation. Its mission??to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law??enables Scouting to address many issues that are important to young people and families, including health, civility, education, leadership, diversity, and service to others. ?This country needs strong leaders and healthy young people more than ever before, and that is what Scouting is all about,? said Bob Mazzuca, Chief Scout Executive of the BSA. ?This is our time in history to remind the nation that Scouting is more vibrant, more vital, and more relevant than ever before. Every day, millions of Scouts and adult leaders make a huge difference in our society. We look forward to continuing that commitment in the next century.?and relevant by adapting how it delivers programs and reaches its audiences, including - Going green! In addition to publishing the first ?green? Boy Scout Handbook in 2009, BSA magazines Boys? Life and Scouting have been certified by the Sustainable Forestry Initiative.
Page 2?BSA Celebrates Centennial - Multicultural outreach: In 2008, the BSA launched a national Hispanic Initiatives program that aims to increase the number of Hispanic Scouts, adult volunteers, and professional staff members. In its first year, the program brought an increase of more than 30,000 Hispanic Scouts. Additionally, the BSA has publications in 21 languages.
- Adopting social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter as core communications tools to reach volunteers and connect with Scouts.
- Updating the Scouting uniforms to include a cell-phone pocket, offer SPF 50+ sun protection, and Superior moisture control that keeps you cooler in warm weather and warmer in cold weather.
? We are reaching out to all parents from every background to bring Scouting to Today?s youth?, said California Inland Empire Scout Executive , Joe Daniszewski. The BSA?s centennial celebration goes far beyond a day on the calendar. Mazzuca pointed to a number of national events that have already helped kick off Scouting?s 100th Anniversary year. On January 1, the BSA placed an award-winning float in the Tournament of Roses Parade, and launched Adventure Base 100, a mobile, immersive Scouting campus. Adventure Base 100 is currently embarking on a more than 40-city nationwide tour, and features a traveling Scout museum, an IMAX-like video in its Go Scouting! Dome, a high-adventure ropes course, and a variety of interactive displays and activities. At any time, from anywhere in the country, the public can experience Adventure Base 100 virtually, and find out where it?s going next, at http://www.adventurebase100.org/. In all, eight major national 100th Anniversary engagement programs have been designed to reintroduce Scouting to the next generation of young leaders and reconnect millions of alumni with the organization. BSA councils across the country, including those serving the two county area of Riverside and San Bernardino, are actively engaged in local 100th Anniversary programs programs. At Saturday evenings council Adult Recognition Dinner the council with the assistance of Provident Bank?s Jamil Dada opened up a 25 year time capsule sealed at the Diamond Jubilee encampment. Through the remaining year the council will be conducting submissions for the 2010 time capsule that will be sealed at the BSA 100 event in late September at Glen Helen Regional Park. ?During this year, we recognize the achievements of our past, but our focus is on the future of millions of young Scouts, their communities, and the nation as a whole,? Mazzuca said. ?Scouting is ready for the next 100 years!? BSA 100th Anniversary Trees | The tree is an important symbol of the family?a family tree, the life of a tree that spans generations, the belief that a tree will continue to provide, long after we're gone. Because of that symbolism?and a shared mission for service and environmental stewardship?we could think of no better Generations Connection partner than the Arbor Day Foundation! Arbor Day has designated official BSA 100th Anniversary trees for anyone to enjoy. Order yours at http://www.arborday.org/boyscouts. For every BSA 100th Anniversary tree purchased from Arbor Day, another will be planted in Montana at the newly created Boy Scouts of America Centennial Forest. The Centennial Forest will aid replanting of the Flathead National Forest following recent fires. | News & Tidbits Look We're on CNN! Barstow resident Gideon Hankins learned to throw a tomahawk during a spring camp-out ? or ?camporee,? recalled the 9-year-old as he pointed to a patch on his red felt blanket. It was also the trip where his mother, Jessica Hankins, forgot to pack a tent.
