Foxfire Graduation

Congratulations to the participants of the 2011 Foxfire program who graduated on Saturday, February 25th, 2012.

Get Ready For a Summer of Fun!

Summer camp is always a great time for your Scouts to live and work together for a week, practicing their leadership skills and building teamwork.

Before heading off to camp this summer, be sure to reinforce that all members are expected to conduct themselves in accordance with the principles set forth in the Scout Oath and Law. Physical violence, hazing, bullying, theft, verbal insults, ethnic slurs, crude or sexual jokes, pornography, demeaning behavior, and drugs and alcohol have no place in Scouting.

While at camp, use the buddy system and never leave Scouts alone in the campsite without adult supervision.

If you do have an issue regarding a youth or adult member’s behavior while at camp this summer, you have a duty to report it to the camp director.

In cases of physical violence or sexual abuse, you must also report the incident to Scout Executive Joseph Daniszewski by calling (909) 793?2463 ext 120 or by email to Joseph.Daniszewski@Scouting.org

We hope you and your Scouts have a safe and fun time at camp this summer. Click Here for upcoming events.

Sincerely, Joseph Daniszewski Scout Executive

Ukraine's International Jubilee

Here is another opportunity to participate in a significant international event.

I cannot encourage you to strongly to get the word out to the Scouts and Scouters of the CIEC. Selection to World Jamboree contingents (e.g., Japan in 2015 and USA in 2019) not to mention some roles for National Jamborees will go to those who have demonstrated the greatest and longest period of involvement and commitment across the greatest scope of Scouting.

We need to encourage CIEC Scouts to apply for the BSA National Contingent to the Korean National Jamboree. We must try to find at least one Scouter who will agree to be one of the US contingent leaders for a BSA National Contingent to the Ukraine. Click Here for Flyer

Please do what you can to get the word out. More and more links will be appearing on the CIEC ISC home page.

Mike Goldware, ISC CIEC

A Positive Story

B-P’s final farewell was written before his death to be published after he left. Take a moment to share it with your friends, Scouts or not. Think about the meaning and ideals of the Scout Oath and Law. Lastly, think about Scouts all over the world. 35 Million young men and women in 162 countries living by these ideals and doing their small part to leave the world a little better than they found it. You’re a Scout, be proud.

“Dear Scouts – If you have ever seen the play “Peter Pan” you will remember how the pirate chief was always making his dying speech because he was afraid that possibly when the time came for him to die he might not have time to get it off his chest. It is much the same with me, and so, although I am not at this moment dying, I shall be doing so one of these days and I want to send you a parting word of good-bye.

Remember, it is the last time you will ever hear from me, so think it over.

I have had a most happy life and I want each one of you to have as happy a life too.

I believe that God put us in this jolly world to be happy and enjoy life. Happiness doesn’t come from being rich, nor merely from being successful in your career, nor by self-indulgence. One step towards happiness is to make yourself healthy and strong while you are a boy, so that you can be useful and so you can enjoy life when you are a man.

Nature study will show you how full of beautiful and wonderful things God has made the world for you to enjoy. Be contented with what you have got and make the best of it. Look on the bright side of things instead of the gloomy one.

But the real way to get happiness is by giving out happiness to other people. Try and leave this world a little better than you found it and when your turn comes to die, you can die happy in feeling that at any rate you have not wasted your time but have done your best. “Be Prepared” in this way, to live happy and to die happy- stick to your Scout Promise always when you have ceased to be a boy – and God help you to do it.

Your friend, Robert Baden-Powell”

Have a great Scouting week!
