What Did You Do This Weekend?

Pack 34 in Corona had a weekend full of scouting!  Chartered by the Corona United Methodist Church, the scouts camped on the grounds of the church for an entire weekend.  It's a convenient way to get new scouts used to camping and having fun!  The boys love being together and they can't get enough of the campfire and skits!  They learned to play Ultimate Frisbee, were introduced to the seven principles of Leave No Trace frontcountry guidelines, made a dutch oven desert and got to watch some of the Olympics too.

A dozen boys from Pack 34 participated in the Temescal District Interfaith Worship Service on Saturday.  They all had speaking parts explaining what it means to "prepare yourself for prayer" and also helped with the World Friendship Fund offering.

There are so many members of CUMC that just want to see the scouts in action, so we purposely plan events that will foster these relations.  We concluded the weekend with a Sunday breakfast for church members and visitors . . . right in the middle of camp!

Popcorn Kick Off

On August 1st, 2012 the California Inland Empire Council office staff, wore their Trails End T-shirts to promote the Popcorn Kick Off. The annual popcorn sale is scouting’s main fundraiser for boys in the Scouting program. About 70 percent of the sale’s proceeds go to Scouting in this area.

In addition to earning prizes, scouts also have the opportunity to fund their entire year of Scouting – with just one fundraiser. Trails End also offers scholarships – Scouts who sell $2,500 will receive 6 percent of their total sales invested in their very own college scholarship account.

The Scouts also support our military. The Military program allows scouts to have popcorn sent all around the world to military personnel. For more information about Popcorn, contact Veronica Whitman at (909) 793-2463 ext. 122.
