BE A PART OF THE CALIFORNIA INLAND EMPIRE COUNCIL?S 2010 NATIONAL JAMBOREE CONTINGENT
At dawn on July 26, 2010, dew on the empty fields shimmers in the growing daylight. And then ?Here They Come! By noon throngs of Scouts from all across the Nation are carrying gear and tents, and gateways begin to emerge from the empty ground.
By dusk, the landscape has been transformed into a bustling city of 18,000 tents, 3,600 patrol kitchens and 43,000 Scouts and leaders. This transformation occurs in mere hours, making Jamboree City the fastest growing city in Virginia, if not in the world.
A Century of the finest out door and leadership experience a boy could have! This tradition lives on at the pinnacle of the 100th Anniversary of Scouting ? the 2010 National Jamboree. Yesterday merges with tomorrow at the greatest Scouting event of the Century. It is an opportunity of a lifetime ? one you will never forget.
This year, prior to arriving at Fort AP Hill, the Council?s contingent will tour several national monuments and historic landmarks, which will include; The U.S. Mint, The Liberty Bell, Gettysburg, Capitol Hill (tour of grounds), The Air & Space Museum, Arlington National Cemetery. We may also take part in the ceremony of laying a wreath on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Wow!! What an exciting adventure awaits those who participate.
The Council?s Jamboree Committee wants YOU to be a part of the Council?s contingent, which will consist of 4 troops- 144 Scouts and 16 leaders. Interviews of potential members will take place soon. If you are interested, simply click on this link for further information. You may also contact the Council Service Center at 909-793-2463, ext. 102 or 116. We will be happy to assist you.
