Remember, "Filler Up" drawings start on Monday, October 7.  Get your Scouts to fill up their order forms and get them to us by Noon each Monday from October 7- November 4 to be in a drawing to earn cool stuff each week!  Go to our Council Popcorn page and click on "Popcorn Leaders Guide" for more info: http://www.bsa-ciec.org/support-scouting/popcorn-sales/9957.  Note: once you submit a complete order form, you do not need to keep resending it each week.  If a Scout does not win one week, they are automatically entered for the next weeks drawing.

50 Ways to Recruit New Cub Scouts!

5th Grade Webelos to Boy Scouting

We transition over 50% of our 5th Grade Webelos class into Boy Scouting every year – but why not 100% - If we did, we would have even more Boy Scouts.

Hopefully all our current 5th graders enjoyed a summer camping experience to give them a “taste’ of what Boy Scouting will be like in 2014.

It’s never too early to start working on the Webelos transition process with your current 5th graders. As the program year begins, Webelos Leaders, Cubmasters, Assistant Scoutmasters and Unit Commissioners should work together to keep the Webelos engaged and excited about joining a troop in 2014. For many youth, joining a troop is only 6 months away. Visiting their pack’s local troops meeting and conducting “joint” Webelos and Troop campouts will help start building a solid relationship with the Webelos and current Scouts in the troop.

Den chiefs can be a great help in the transition process. The den chief is an official youth leadership position in a Scout troop. Den chiefs help Webeleos den leaders with their den activities, they help provide a bridge into what Boy Scouting is really like and ultimately will be a positive step in helping your Webelos join a troop.

For more information, please contact your Districts’ Membership Impact Team Chair.

Positive Quote & Prayer

"Disappointments Are Just God's Way Of Saying I've Got Something Better"

    ~  By J. Johnson

Do not look forward to what may happen tomorrow; the same everlasting Father who cares for you today will take care of you tomorrow and every day. Either He will shield you from suffering, or He will give you unfailing strength to bear it. Be at peace, then. Put aside all anxious thoughts and imaginations, and say continually: "The Lord is my strength and my shield. My heart has trusted in Him and I am helped. He is not only with me but in me, and I in Him."

    ~  St. Francis de Sale
