CIEC Properties is recruiting a cadre of volunteers for the “AEC Group”.  (Architectural, Engineering, & Construction ) AEC is charged with Design and Construction of

property improvements at camp and other properties owned by our council.  With a large group to call on, no one will be overwhelmed or overworked while we develop out 1-Year Plan/Budget and 5-Year Master Plan/Budget.  These projects include:

  • Power, Water, Sewer Master Plan and Priorities
  • Water Well Evaluation
  • Landscape Plans and Priorities
  • Shower & Latrine Design & Construction
  • Program Area Upgrades / Building Design & Construction
  • Aquatics Center Design & Construction

Here is some of what a Scout gets from Camp

 

 

Your Scout returns from summer camp more capable and mature.
Outside the normal support structure of  family, away from the solitary distractions of modernity, a Scout must take care of himself and cooperate with their peers. Scouts do all this in a supportive environment that permits failure without compromising safety. They'll be challenged to expand their abilities, to accept and offer help, and to function cooperatively in everyday tasks. Here is some expamples

  • Gets up in the morning on schedule.
  • Shares a tent with another Scout and keeps it neat and clean.
  • Shares chores to maintain the campsite.
  • Shares three meals a day served family style sitting at a table with other people.
  • Says grace at meals.
  • Serves as a waiter for their table setting, serving  and cleaning up after meals.
  • Manages and budgets their money.
  • Sets and follows their own schedule of activities according to their own interests.
  • Is responsible to find his way to and from these activities and manage their time.
  • Builds character and values by attending campfires, ceremonies and reflecting on his activities.
  • They are complimented by adults and peers.
  • Their opinions are valued and heard by other Scouts and adults.
  • Have the opportunity to take on real responsibility and lead others.
  • Makes a new friend.
  • Strengthens existing friendships.
  • Learns new skills.
  • Tries something they have never tried before.
  • Learns about the environment.
  • Challenges his critical thinking skills.
  • Puts what they learn into action.
  • Works with others to establish and achieve goals.
  • Uses time to contribute to the goals of others.
  • Trades T.V., video games and cell phones for actual social interaction.
  • Finds healthy resolution of conflicts.
  • Benefits from positive peer pressure following the good example of older Scouts and counselors.
Summer camp is challenging, adventurous, it’s full of possibility.  Camp is an opportunity to let kids go a little – let them stand on their own two feet, it’s an expression of confidence, of trust in their abilities and a test of your parenting.

2021 NYLT

 

NYLT  National Youth Leadership Training

Three session to choose from, register below

NYLT #1 July 19th to 24th

NYLT #2 July 26th to 31st

NYLT #3 December 28th to January 2nd

 

NYLT (National Youth Leadership Training) is advanced leadership training for youth troop, teams, ships, and crew leaders. National Youth Leadership Training is an exciting, action packed program designed to provide young men and women members of the Boy Scouts of America with leadership skills and an experience they can use in their home troops, teams, ships, or crews.   NYLT teaches lifelong leadership skills. The NYLT course centers around the concepts of what a leader must BE, what a leader must KNOW and what a leader must DO. NYLT provides youth leaders with the HOW-TO skills they need to be strong youth and strong youth leaders

Registration fee $350.00 (Due no later than the participant orientation date)

TO ATTEND, THE SCOUT / VENTURE SCOUT MUST:

  • Be 13 years of age

  • Be a First-Class Scout or Venture Scout

  • Have his/her Unit Leader recommendation

  • Complete ILST - Introduction to Leadership Skills (Troops, Teams). Previously known as Cedar Badge or

  • Complete ILSC - Introduction to Leadership Skills for Crews (Venturing).

During the course scouts will learn how to use the following leadership skills:

  • Vision – Goals -Planning

  • SMART Goals

  • Problem Solving

  • SSC-Start Stop Continue

  • Stages of Team Development

  • Conflict Resolution

  • Making Ethical Decisions

  • Communication

  • Valuing People

  • Teaching Edge
