Don Clark, Ken Simpson, Carrie Olson, Kyle Gonering, & Amanda Klopping at High Desert Roundtable First Wood Badge Beading Ceremony for W4-45-20-2 Wood Badge Course Director Don Clark is pleased to announce the first beading ceremony for his course, W4-45-20-2. Ken Simpson was the first course participant to complete his ticket, with Carrie Olson following shortly after. Ken and Carrie are both from Troop 257 in Apple Valley. Both celebrated their accomplishment at the High Desert Roundtable on May 5. Don Clark and two course staffers, Kyle Gonering and Amanda Klopping, presented Ken and Carrie with their beads, their mauve neckerchiefs, and their certificates. Congratulations to Ken and Carrie! Keep those ticket completions coming, Troop One! Back to Gilwell! As many Wood Badge participants can tell you, this leadership course is much more than just a training. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience and an opportunity for memories and growth that most adults will never have. Course participants learn skills that are useful not only in Scouting, but in their careers and personal lives as well. Training is given in interpersonal relations, listening skills, conflict management, and so much more. And this is all done while having fun in the forest at beautiful Camp Emerson. There will be only one Wood Badge course in our council this year, and we anticipate that it will fill up quickly. This year’s course will be August 26-28, and September 10-11. More information can be found at this link. You can also email this year’s Course Director, Greg Palmer, at greg@gdpalmer.com. Don’t miss out on your chance to find out what all the fuss is about. Going to Wood Badge is an investment in yourself - and don’t we all deserve that? |
